Hi

I just updated to 5.8.3 [from pgnus 0.99] and am quite pleased. It took
me a while to get here because I thought when I got the xemacs gnus
package, it would get me to 5.8.3 but it was 5.6.x.

Can anyone tell me why the versions aren't synchronized? I thought
5.8.3 was an "official" release and not on the pgnus track [which is
now dead, I think ...]

Gnus 5.8 is still considered beta. (Questions specifically about XEmacs
packages should probably directed to the XEmacs maintainers, BTW).

I think 5.8.3 is beta (pgnus was the alpha version).

There are two alternative explanations why there is no xemacs package
for 5.8.3, yet:

 a) we are still waiting for 5.8.x to stabilise some more.
 b) nobody volunteered to do the package.

pick one :-)

 Gunnar
