The last few lines of the *Messages* buffer are:
Fetching articles for gnu.emacs.gnus...
Fetching headers for gnu.emacs.help...
Fetching articles for gnu.emacs.help...
SIGPIPE raised on process nntpd; closed it
What's that?
(Gnus 5.6.43 Emacs 20.2 Linux)

Good question. Is that an Emacs error message, or does it come from

Thank you, Lars (and sorry for replying to the wrong adress, last time)
Couldn't find anything (whether in Emacs 20.2 nor in Gnus 5.6.43)
I will set debug-on-error until it happens next time...

Oh, it's with Emacs 20.2? Upgrade. Emacs 20.2 doesn't work.
