my .newsrc.eld looked like: ;; Gnus startup file.

lots of newsgroups (killed ones)

all this on the same line.
the last one is somehow [:-)] offending gnus on the next startup
(unbalanced quoutes and parenthesis)
all the rest is ok:

(setq gnus-newsrc-alist '(("gnu.emacs.gnus" 6 ((1 . 6448) (6450 . 6491) ....

well gnus doesn't barf if I delete the first list
- yes that's not a bug fix, it just made all my groups reappear
(including this one).
I don't know what happened.
Just wanted to know if somebody else had similar problems.
