Krzys Majewski <krzys@cs.mcgill.ca> points out that by following the
links from http://www.gnus.org/, one does not get a hint about which
version of Gnus one is downloading.

How about renaming the files somewhat?  From gnus.tar.gz to
gnus-5.8.8.tar.gz, for instance.

Or maybe just include a README file in that directory?

Or add new files LATEST_STABLE_IS_5.8.8 and
LATEST_DEVEL_IS_ognus-0.05?
