As I understood it you took out the nnfolder-always-close variable, but I'm
still being left with open nnfolder buffers.  Lars did you intend to keep
these open and close if and only if the nnfolder-server is closed?  (this
is causing some extreme overhead on the part of my gnus since I've got some
pretty big nnfolder files).

Now I've found kill-buffer in the following functions...

(nnfolder-close-group)
(nnfolder-request-move-article)
(nnfolder-request-rename-group)
(nnfolder-possibly-change-group)

Basically when nnmail is doing spliting, does it call nnfolder-close-group
after it's diverted to the proper folders?  I don't seem to have hanging
buffers when I enter and leave a folder, just at init time when or after
I've gotten new mail.

I hope this helps some.  It might just be my misunderstanding of the
changes made.

Yup.  Fix in September Gnus v0.47.
