Bug fixes.

As some observant people may have noticed, there is now a gnus.org
domain. All Gnus-related mail should now be sent to this address --
"ding@gnus.org" instead of "ding@ifi.uio.no", and "bugs@gnus.org"
instead of "gnus-bug@ifi.uio.no".

Also check out the new Web site: <URL:http://www.gnus.org/>.

Get it from <URL:http://www.gnus.org/gnus.tar.gz> or
"ftp.gnus.org:/pub/emacs/gnus/". The patch is available as
<URL:http://www.gnus.org/patches/gnus-5.4.39-5.4.40.diff.gz>

Here's one that is probably a bug... and I guess nobody has brought it up,
but sometimes when I catch up a group the corresponding summary buffer is
not updated. So, when I quit Gnus I get the "update summary buffer" query.
This started around Gnus 5.4.late-teens, IIRC.

The `c' command in the summary buffer doesn't update the summary
buffer? That's kinda odd.

Or do you mean the `c' command in the group buffer? That command has
never done anything to the summary buffer.

Lars> The `c' command in the summary buffer doesn't update the summary

I have noticed an intermittment error along those lines (perhaps).
Somewhere in the last 20 versions or so, I see in the summary perhaps
15 messages in misc.tofu, so I enter the group and my scorefile
expunges a bunch of stuff (apparently it was all from that swedish
chef again who can't cook tofu worth beans!), and then I exit, but
there's still *15* messages in the summary buffer! The 15 messages
don't go away until I catchup in the summary buffer.

When that happens again, what kind of report do you want?

That is what appears to be happening... or at least Gnus thinks that the
summary buffer has not been updated. This only happens with the last group
of a set, and only with nnml groups (no problems with nntp groups).

Uhm... If you mean "group buffer" when you say "summary buffer" :-) I
this sounds like you have an `expunge' score file rule without a
`mark' score file rule. So the articles aren't shown, but they aren't
marked as read either, which would lead to this kind of behavior.

Is that the case?

Do you have `gnus-kill-summary-on-exit' set to nil, by any chance?

gnus-kill-summary-on-exit's value is t

Documentation:
*If non-nil, kill the summary buffer when you exit from it.
If nil, the summary will become a "*Dead Summary*" buffer, and
it will be killed sometime later.

One grasped straw broken. :-)

Uhm, I have absolutely no idea what could be causing the behavior
you're seeing. `c' in the summary buffer should kill the buffer...

And at least in 5.4.40 it does... and since I installed 5.4.40 I have not
seen the problem.

Weird how bugs sometimes fix themselves. :)

I don't think so. I have "all.SCORE" with:

	(("followup"
	  ("merlyn@stonehenge.com" nil nil s))
	 (mark-and-expunge -500))

and then in various places of interest I have rules like

	(("xref"
	  (" .* .* .* .* .* " -10000 nil r)))

and I just checked my *.SCORE files, and I never have "expunge" except
as "mark-and-expunge".

Next idea? :-)

I'm afraid I can't think of anything. If you enter the group with
`C-u 10 RET', are all the 10 articles shown? Are they scored low?
