Hi,
I'm using gnus in emacs 21.3.50 on OSX. If I start with C-x 3 to have
a spare visible buffer for editing, as soon as an article is viewed
gnus takes over the whole frame. Is there a way to stop this? I can't
see anything in the customizing section.
Cheers
John

John,

I have this in my .init.el (this is xemacs!) which starts up gnus in a
separate frame - any use?

(global-set-key 'f5 'gnus-other-frame)

I have found that if you use C-x 2 to put a window below the *article*
window, you can do your "other editing" there while browsing news. in
the upper 2/3rds of the frame. I then save the window configuration
by typing C-x r w a (put the window config in register 'a'). Then if
I have to do a followup or something, the frame goes to one window,
I finish the followup, and then hit C-x r j a to get back to my
3-window frame from before.
