Hi Hans,

the latest beta is looking for files

! I can't find file
`/mnt/shared/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/symb-mis.tex'.

and

! I can't find file
`/mnt/shared/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/symb-nav.tex'.

only symb-mis.mki(i|v) and symb-nav.mki(i|v) are present.

All best

Thomas

Confirmed.

I also regularly have problems loading mkfiles upon update of the minimals; the
algorithm looking for them is not robust.

Yes, it looks like the treatment of & has changed. Here’s an example:

\startbuffer[test]
<text>
Random text with an entity: °ree;
</text>
\stopbuffer

\startxmlsetups xml:testsetups
\xmlsetsetup{#1}{text}{xml:*}
\stopxmlsetups

\xmlregistersetup{xml:testsetups}

\startxmlsetups xml:text
\xmlflush{#1}\par
\stopxmlsetups

\xmltexentity{degree}{\textdegree}

\starttext
\xmlprocessbuffer{main}{test}{}
\stoptext

Works with older betas, not with the current one.

if you have a small example ... this whole entity stuff is a mess ..
officially entities are replaced at load time but tex code is delayed ..
so maybe i need to invent some other trick (there was an issue with & ;

Hi Hans,

the latest beta does not replace xml entities for which I have defined
something like

\xmltexentity{degree}{\textdegree}

The problem is not there in 2015.09.13 13:31, but in 2015.10.09 21:28
(sorry don't have all the betas in between). I can make you a test file
if you need it, but I guess the problem is obvious.

no, side effect of substantial optimizations (where i simply couldn't
test everything ... you're probably the only user building accents)

Hi,

the following test file gives an error with the latest beta:

\setupbodyfont[gentium,12pt]

\starttext
\buildtextaccent\greekdasia\greekalphamacron
\stoptext

it works with a somewhat older one (2013.12.30). The error is

! Missing number, treated as zero.

system > tex > error on line 5 in file /tmp/test.tex: Missing
number, treated as zero ...

...

<to be read again>
\relax
\buildtextaccent ...umber \b_enco_accent )}\relax
                                                   \ifcase
\scratchcounter \e...
l.5 \buildtextaccent\greekdasia\greekalphamacron

I thought this pointed to enco-ini.mkiv, but the file is unchanged
between these two versions, so I'm a bit baffled.

All best

Thomas

Ah, sorry ... we have been cleaning up the routers and as I couldn't
remember why rsync was enabled I disabled the rule. It should work again.

The problem was a failure of rsync server on pragma. I was fetching from
    rsync -a rsync://ctx.pragma-ade.nl/beta/
and that one seems to be down at the moment.

I changed to http mode now.

Hi Hans,

the files typo-itc.lua and typo-itc.mkvi are missing in today's beta; I
assume that's just an oversight?

All best

Hello,

in some rare circumstances the enabled italic correction (\setupitaliccorrection[always]) cause the following error:
/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/typo-itc.lua:99: attempt to index local 'cd' (a nil value)

In needed I will try to make a minimal example.

I’ve asked it already, bun since I got no answer … Would it be possible to expand the the cross referencing mechanism, so that it would be possible to store the component files in a subfolder? Here is a test:
http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2011/062335.html

Thanks in advance

	Andreas

Hi Otared,

thanks for your file. It does not look like that there are relevant
differences with the version I used.
I tried to setup a new tree with your file. The result is the same,
after the first bits the procedure is stopped with the mentioned bus
error.

Kind regards

Hi Willi,

Two weeks ago I had a similar problem on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.
The issue seemed to be with an old first-setup.sh file: when I updated that file everything worked fine.
As a test to reproduce your experience, I just created a new folder, copied the file first-setup.sh there and installed anew the minimals: they work without any problem here.
Just in case, I send you the file I have on my machine, and you can compare with yours.

Best regards: OK

Thanks for your reply.
As for me there is no need to revert to an older version of luatex. -
Cautiously I keep one tree which works and update into another tree ;-)

Kind regards

A temporary solution might be to fetch an older luatex from
http://minimals.contextgarden.net/current/bin/osx-intel/luatex/, make
it executable, place it to "bin", rename it into texlua and comment
out the line in first-setup.sh that fetches a newer texlua.

But we need to sort this out ASAP. (Temporary I can also revert back
to an older version - later today.)

Tiger 10.4.11 on a Macbook-intel

running texlua -- version works.

However running mtxrun without any option results in a bus error.

Furthermore, I wanted to update the minimals in the usual way with
first-setup in a new tree. No chance, it stops after downloading the
first bits:

sent 37 bytes received 132 bytes 112.67 bytes/sec
total size is 5610517 speedup is 33198.33
...

MTXrun | state: loaded

verbose --script ./bin/mtx-update.lua --update --make --force --
engine=all --context=beta --platform=$platform --texroot=$PWD/tex $@

I am stumied ...

What about
    cd bin
    texlua --version
Does that work?

Does that contain a stack backtrace? Looking at a backtrace is about
the only thing I can do about this :(

I hit a similar problem on a ppc mac. So it's probably not an intel-
only thing.

The .firstsetup script crashes. It worked fine through at least March
23, for what it's worth.

Here's a transcript

I have a crash log too, if that would help.

Possibly, but there is absolutely no way I can track that down
myself.

Best wishes,

No problem here, but I'm running Leopard (intel).

This might as well be a mac-intel-only luatex-related problem
(something for Taco in any case), but I cannot reproduce it yet.

I just updated the latest beta in a completely new tree:

I get now the following message:

.../lua60/tex/texmf-osx-intel/bin/context: line 2: 1634 Bus
error mtxrun --script context "$@"

When running luatools --generate
most of the things work out well, just that in the last line I see:

LuaTools | fileio: loading configuration file .../lua60/tex/texmf/
web2c/texmf.cnf Bus error

Running on Tiger 10.4.11

Kind regards

Willi

yeah ... i made them local (when checking global vars) but they are to
be local

in core-pos.lua remove the local in front of them

OK, one problem is math support. Here's a minimal file that compiles
with 2009.01.18 and fails with 2009.02.04:

\definebodyfontenvironment[18pt]

\usetypescriptfile[type-otf]
\usetypescript[palatino]
\setupbodyfont[palatino,18pt]

\starttext

test $\approx$

\stoptext

Nope, I get exactly the same error with luatex 0.33.0; not with all of
my xml files, however. I'll have to see if I can isolate the error.
Thanks for your reply, Wolfgang.

This is LuaTeX, Version snapshot-0.33.1-2009020508, build 1856

I'll try with an older version of luatex, maybe the trunk version
(which I compiled today) has a problem.

Do you use the last LuaTeX version?

I tried a example you send me and it works without problems.

This is LuaTeX, Version snapshot-0.33.1-2009020413, build unknown

Hi,

with the latest beta of this morning and the latest luatex, a call like

texexec --lua --env=mystyle myfile.xml

fails, the environment file is not read (there is no error about not
finding it in the log).

Hi all, Hi Hans,

has anything changed in xml processing in the latest beta? My
beautiful (!) collection of xml entities has stopped working. In my
environment files, I have stuff such as

\defineXMLentity[textellipsis]{\textellipsis}

but only get the typeset "textellipsis" in my pdfs when I process them
with mkiv. Bug or do I have to change anything in my files?

All best

Thomas

Hi Hans,

the latest beta has a problem with font handling: in my Greek output,
the letters "sigma" and "sigmaalt" don't work anymore; they're
replaced either by some "undefined" character (box with letter "X" in
it) or by empty spaces. I tried to find out where something has
changed, but haven't found anything so far. If you don't have an
immediate idea what's wrong, I'll try to investigate further.

no, but this is more luatex related (i think); it seems that ff can
merge fea files now so this will also show up in luatex

Great, this one works! Thanks for your swift action, Hans. I haven't
played with zipped trees yet, but will try to do so. No fea support
yet, I suppose?

Thanks

btw, the syntax for for zip files has been changd:

zip:///somefile.zip?name=somefile.tex
zip:////tmp/whatevere/somefile.zip?name=/place/inzip/somefile.tex

the following registers a zip file as being a tex tree (with its search
methods)

\usezipfile[texmf-project.zip]

this installs only the texmf-project sub path from the zip

\usezipfile[tex.zip][texmf-project]

in case of unknown paths ...

\input */whatever.tex

should work too (searches all registered trees)

etc etc ... more documentation will follow; still somewhat experimental

ok, i'll make a new beta zip; i dunny what went wrong; normally there is

Yes, sure; I still have the habit of having my luatex-cache in /tmp
and deleting it before every upgrade.

ok, i'll check it (there have been changes to the underlying file

Hi Hans,

great: I now get Greek hyphenation with XeTeX as well! However,
there's a problem with mkiv: none of my mkiv-typescripts works with
it; I always get this error:

This went wrong: ...al/texlive/texmf-local/tex/context/base/luat-
tmp.lua:121: attempt to call field 'is_writable' (a nil value)
)))).
<to be read again>
                    \relax
\xxdododefinefont ...tspec {#4}\newfontidentifier
                                                   \let
\localrelativefontsiz...
\fontstrategy ...me \fontclass #2#3#4#5\endcsname
                                                   \tryingfontfalse \fi
<inserted text> ...yle \fontalternative \fontsize
                                                   \fi \iftryingfont
\fontstr...
\synchronizefont ...strategy \the \fontstrategies
                                                   \relax \fi
\iftryingfont \...
<argument> \getvalue {\@style@ \fontstyle }
                                            \edef \fontstyle
{\fontstyle }\if...
...
l.3 \setupbodyfont[MyAGaramond,12pt]

It works with vanilla LatinModern, and the same typescripts work with
yesterday's beta.

All best

Thomas

well, any unexpected behaviour is worth mentioning; it helps to have
minimal examples of the bug too -)

Hi all, Taco, Hans,

this combination of latest betas:

This is LuaTeX, Version snapshot-0.20.2-2007121721

CtxTools | context version: 2008.01.03 16:25

gives me output without the usual TeX ligatures (fi etc.).

I'm uncertain whether it is worth reporting such things or whether,
given the rapid change of luatex and mkiv, you think this is
unnecessary?

All best

Thomas

Oops, I spake too soon. Both issues seem to be resolved with the
current stable release! Sorry for the noise!

Hans and all,

there are two unpleasant things in the lates releases which may be bugs:

1. newtexexec --module --pdf does not work, it just doesn't process
the modules (works with "old" texexec)

2. not sure if this is a misconfiguration on my system, but when I
try to use texmfstart, I get this error:

/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/scripts/context/ruby/base/
kpseremote.rb:8:in `require': No such file to load -- base/kpse/drb
(LoadError)
         from /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/scripts/context/ruby/
base/kpseremote.rb:8
         from /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/scripts/context/ruby/
texmfstart.rb:39:in `require'
         from /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/scripts/context/ruby/
texmfstart.rb:39

All best

Thomas

I had the same problem (style option in setuphead doesn't work anymore),
but the fix doesn't help either, even after making new formats.

Hi all,

after installing the latest beta (the one with colmunsets) I have found
problems with heads -- heads on all levels and sublevels use style of the
top level (chapter or title). Another settings like spacing etc. works fine.
I tried compile the beta three times (:-), twice at home, once at office).
Maybe I do any systematic error, but now I do not know which...

Thanks,

Martin

Thanks Patrick for generating the minimal test case. (Hans I promise
I'll do my own homework from now on.)

Replacing \doifelsenothing{#1} with \doifmodeelse{*sectionnumber} does
cure the problem.

I am not Guy Worthington, but I had a (non successful) look at it and
this is my testing file:
