Yes, I did press `CTRL-T` because I thought I was in the browser window. But it doesn't matter, the same thing happens regardless. I had tried this command multiple times with the same result, it just happened that I pressed `CTRL-T` this last time.

Could there be an issue with your filesystem, this could be EIO from `read(2)`, but not 100%, could also come from some other syscall, but the read makes the most sense.

Do you mean the `smartmontools` package? A quick scan did not find any issues. I have yet to try the extended scan.

How do I check the file system that hold my OS? Do I need to create a bootable USB drive, boot from USB and then run fsck on my SSD?

Yes, it should be able to show the drive state and possibly number of recorded read errors etc. From the dmesg it does look like more of an issue with the drive and not the filesystem.

Should happen automatically on boot, but you can also `touch /forcefsck` or add `forcefsck` to the kernel command line.

Comment:
Well, that sucks. I have bought a new SSD, can I simply use `dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb` (with the proper device paths substituted) to get a drop-in replacement clone or should I re-install Void from scratch on the new drive? The new drive is now 2TB large (the old one was 1TB), I don't know if that is relevant. I don't feel like re-installing everything from scratch, but I don't want a broken system either.

Honestly if you have the time I would do a clean install after exporting the data and syncing home via rsync.
You can export the manual package list via `xbps-query -m`.
