Can't start cinnamon-settings - python: undefined symbol: pam_start

Cinnamon is up and running with lightdm after boot, however, it won't 
launch any settings panels from the menu applets, and when I attempt to run 
cinnamon-settings from the terminal, I'm greeted with:

python: undefined symbol: pam_start

Does something need to be linked somewhere? Is there a config file I need 
to edit or delete?
I'm able to run gnome-control-center, to get at some settings, but I'm 
missing quite a bit, if I can't open cinnamon's.
I've verified I have Python, PAM, and python-pam installed.

I've updated all cinnamon packages to 2.4.x.

I couldn't reproduce this issue after upgrading...

Still seeing the issue after the update, plus a warning about not 
registering with the accessibility bus, despite that I have D-Bus running, 
with an entry in /var/service.

Finally I fixed this issue and the problem is now understood.
