i've tried to use one of these in a kenfs. the two disks attached to
it are not recognized. anybody know how to turn off RAID and just
used it as IDE controller? any hints - there apparently
are linux and BSD drivers for it.

You can flash the card with an IDE ROM from the Silicon Image website.
I unfortunately never tried to run Plan 9 on the machine I had the
card on, so I can't say whether it worked with that ROM or not.
However, it's worth a shot.
