i don't think that one has anything to do with me.
i did an extension to tapefs to read ext2 partitions
for the last release, and ported that to this one,
partly because i didn't then know the hiding place
for ext2fs, but i'm not responsible for ext2fs.
it's someone from univ-paris8.fr

I'm too lazy to read archives, I hope no-one was offended. But
half of the reason for asking was the port of Inferno to
FreeBSD, which I naturally assume you had a hand in.

I could be wrong there too, of course. I would like to use
Inferno under NetBSD, myself, and I'm still working on
justifying the source licence subscription so I can do it
myself :-)

On the other hand, I often wonder what the benefit of running
Inferno anywhere other than native or hosted on WinNT or Plan 9
could possibly be. Coolness factor, and something Vita Nuova
can't leave out of the package, but not intrinsically helpful,
the options mentioned _do_ cover most of the likely
applications I can envisage. But it's just my opinion...

So that tapefs reads ext2 partitions in rel. 3? Yes? There is no mention in the manpage. Can you tell me more?

Regards, Peter.

You're exercising one of the few blemishes in Plan 9, its
error message conciseness :-)

I can think of a few possibilities: do all of these physically
exist?
	/n/linux
	/dev/sdC0/linux

Is the "ext2" server (never tried that - forsyth, have you
considered stretching it to do FFS for the *BSDs?) running
(does /srv/ext2 exist?)?

The error message is understandably unusual (ext2srv is not part
of the distribution) but definitely not very helpful, is it?
You may want to dig into the sources and improve on it. That
is one way to solve the problem :-)
