Compare "Plan 9: The Early Papers" (CSTR #158 at
<http://plan9.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/cstr.html>, or
<http://www.ecf.utoronto.ca/plan9/plan9doc/>) to the newer documents
in /sys/doc .

unless i'm missing something, it doesn't explain the title difference;
perhaps the second source is wrong.

These were two sources for the same (1990) paper; sorry if that wasn't
clear. Compare the 1990 paper at
<http://www.ecf.utoronto.ca/plan9/plan9doc/2.ps> with the 1995 paper
at <http://plan9.bell-labs.com/sys/doc/9.ps>; there's some overlap in
subject but these are different texts.

i was confusing "booktitle" for "title".

 booktitle = "UKUUG. UNIX - The Legend Evolves. Proceedings of the
                 Summer 1990 UKUUG Conference",
 title =        "{Plan 9} from {Bell Labs}",
