one of the startups i worked for a while back was a
linux+apache+java+xml shop. in fact, a lot of the developers of the
apache java apps worked there (many of them are now at google). many
of them were of the mind that you could solve all the worlds problems
with java and xml.

so many people seem to think XML-RPC is the answer to everything.
