Can you send me your config.
Perhaps I could try to help you offline (to avoid noise) and in case
you get it working you could post the answer to 9fans, just for the record.

No, i can't connect to fileserver using srv il!IP and i can't ping the
server or see its MAC.

No, I'm sorry for the last explanation about that. I put the MAC statically
on a linux box and i tryed to ping fileserver, but without results.

I will try other hardware next week, but i can't understand why it doesn't
work if no error message is dumped. I suppose is my configuration? can you
see any thing bad?

Thanks for quick responses.

Un saludo

But, does it work?
Are you asking the card to use a different MAC address?

ether8139.c is there, i recompile it and i can see an ether8139.c.,

When i start fileserver it says to me after booting a message like

ether0o MAC IP
ehter0i MAC IP

The MAC seems to be correct, i try to put that MAC statically, without results

It looks like this card is recognized by 9load(8) but not the fs
kernel. You can try to port the rtl driver to the fs kernel. (It has
been done with gigabit drivers.) You can try a different network card.
Look at /sys/src/fs/pc/ether* for cards supported by the file server.

hi,

I'm trying to setup a plan9 rel. 4 fileserver with this config:

P III 700MHz, 128MB RAM, 40GB IDE Disk, and Sargazos Kernel (with ide patch).

service fileserver
ip 192.168.1.9
ipgw 192.168.1.254
ipmask 255.255.255.0
ipauth 192.168.1.10
config h0
filsys main cp(h0)0.5fp(h0)5.95
filsys dump o
ream main
end

Then I introduce the passwd command, and enter auth stuff for user bootes. (the same in auth server).

All seems to run fine, but i haven't networking.
The network card is a Realtek, and it appears to be recognized fine by the kernel, but i cannot see any activity using state command or arp print, and from other hosts i can't see
the MAC addres of fileserver.

I tested all the hardware and runs fine (all fine it can) using linux and openbsd. The link status on hub is ok, and all other hardware stuff seems to be ok.

I put a tcpdump in the hub and see how auth server try to find fileserver MAC but there aren't responses from it.

Any ideas?

Saludos.
