Indeed there was such a bug in 3.06.
It has been fixed recently in the CVS version.

Since already a number of bugs have been fixed since 3.06,
and it might be hard to extract just the needed patch for your
problem, I'm afraid you will have to get the cvs version
from camlcvs.inria.fr.
