Any chance that this could be configurable? I have gotten used to using
h for the old behaviour, which I find more useful.

Maybe that is bound to some other key I haven't hit?

Yeah, I was confused myself a bit with the new behaviour... but after
using it for a few hours, I think it makes more sense than the old. If
you select the article buffer, you're going to do something there, so
removing the summary buffer seems nice.

Hm. I shall - reluctantly - give it a try.

I like the new `h' behavior in the summary buffer. I almost never want
to see the summary buffer when I switch to the article buffer, and in
the case I do I can hit `h' again.

It is a disaster. :)

If anyone actually likes that new behaviour, please make it
configurable.

The current setup for h is never what I want. The flashing from
bouncing the buffers is extremely -- even painfully -- annoying.

FF (and now SM) do something like that for some dialogs now;
it is no less painful there.

Replacing a whole frame buffer with another whole frame buffer is OK.

Popping a new buffer off and on at the top causes severe eye fatigue.

Seems useful. What was `h' bound to in earlier versions?

Jumping from the summary to the article and back (without changing size).

If you weren't using it, you won't notice :-)

After playing with it some more, I think it's more annoying than
useful. I'll switch it back to the old behaviour.

It's like one command in psgml I didn't notice until James Clark said he
wouldn't implement it in nxml. And it was like, really useful (though I
can't remember today what it was...).

Boo, that's taking candy away from the children after they already
licked it... Maybe the buffer flashing is annoying to some, but I use
large fonts so screen real estate is very valuable. How can I get this
effect of "zoom article buffer as would `C-x 1'" and be able to reverse
it back on a single key?

Ted

Well, you can bind `h' in the summary buffer to do what `h' did for a
couple of days.

Or I can add yet another conf option. :-)

FWIW, I kind of liked the new behaviour as well. Could it be made
configurable and/or plugged somewhere else?

Best regards

I'm saying I think it's generally useful. So bring it back as a
standalone function, if possible. Was it very different from the
current `h' or can I just make a `C-u h' version that switches on the
universal prefix?

LMI> Or I can add yet another conf option. :-)

It only differs in what window conf is selects.
