[Q]: Gnus and moderated ML and/or Newsgroup

Hi,

Does anybody have a Gnus mode to manage a moderated mailing-list or
Newsgroup ?

I am merging 2 sites in 1 and will create either a mailing-list or a
newsgroup to allow visitors to ask questions this way. As I want to
manage them (the list and/or the newsgroup) through Gnus, it would be
cool if something already existed :)

Just out of curiosity, I wonder why the moderation package is not
included in the standard Gnus package.

I think this may explain it (comment from gnus-mdrtn.el):

;; This package is designed for enabling moderators to do various

;; is GPL'd and there therefore is no distribution restriction --

Whether this really works is a different question, but at least I have

Can't tell. Maybe it prevents malicious user to abuse of it ?

I will admit that I haven't really looked into the workings of nntp
very much, but my impression from that is that it does not have even a
minimal amount of security, which is surprising.  Presumably, anyone
who can read the protocol specification would be able to implement the
equivalent to gnus-mdrtn.el, and thus do all of those `evil things.'

Right.

Take a look at *.newusers.*: Noone wants to tell every newbie out there
how to post to a moderated group or cancel other people's postings. But
after some time most of the people know.

You hope that those guys who just want to disturb and destroy don't read
lengthy technical specifications. Some do. Most don't. But there's
nothing more you can do.
