I recently visited plan9.bell-labs.com/wiki/plan9 and
I would like to offer my web design services. I can help
you with your Plan 9 website.

I designed a system that allows you to have complete
control over your own website. The easy to use control
panel gives you the ability to add, remove, or copy,
text, pictures, products, prices and more. Best of all,
its all online. No special software required and no hassles.
We will setup everything for you and you can make
updates on your own in seconds.

If you're interested I would be happy to provide you
with my portfolio. I would be happy to go over some
ideas and I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
-Henry

If the code is good, I could always use another wiki. Have him post
the code here.

I just installed a plan 9 system on sdC0, configured the plan9.ini on 9fat
and the system boots well to the point of showing:

user[none]:

I guess there is no user defined after install so I go on with none and this
is the output:

kfs ... File system main inconsistent
Would you like to ream (y/n)? bad nvram key
bad authentication id
bad authentication domain
tag : Tnone; expected Tdir; addr = 2
kfs init7 : FID1 attach to root
kfs 7: suicide: sys: trap: fault read addr=0x0 pc=0x0001cae4
version ... panic: boot process died: sys: write on closed pipe
pc=0x00007858
dumpstack disabled
cpu: exiting

these are the main variables in my ini file:

bootfile=sdC0!9fat!9pcdisk
bootargs=local!#S/sdC0/fossil

there was a nobootprompt as well in the .ini file I took has a reference for
modification with value: local!boot/bzboot
But I saw no reference to it on the plan9.ini man page. So I tried comenting
and uncomenting it, no results.
Is it a problem with my root not defined in the ini? Need I use rootdir or
something? which would be the path?

The subject of this essay (the Myth of Sisyphus) is precisely
this relationship between the absurd and suicide, the exact
degree to which suicide is a solution to the absurd. The
principle can be established that for a man who does not cheat,
what he believes to be true must determine his action.
Belief in the absurdity of existence must then dictate his
conduct. It is legitimate to wonder, clearly and without
false pathos, whether a conclusion of this importance
requires forsaking as rapidly possiblean imcompre-
hensible condition. I am speaking, of course, of men
inclined to be in harmony with themselves.

why are you writing your own plan9.ini? there should be
one in the 9fat partition that is just right. if you are booting
off a floppy, remove the plan9.ini from the floppy and
it should use the 9fat version.

I didnt use the floppy at all. It would not star graphics. I used the kernel
offered in the CD for instalation, it worked ok. Then I started the CD in
demo mode and made:
9fat:
as adviced here to edit the plan9.ini on the newly installed system. There
was an empty plan9.ini file there, that´s all the instalation left there, so
I configured it and restarted.

Hi

where you download your CD image?

are you speaking about the vesa one provided in 9grid.de <http://9grid.de>?

What kind of installation you done? (kfs or fossil or fossil+venti)

Do you see any error during install process?

Where is the advice of the plan9.ini file edition ?

Normally plan9.ini is generated automatically and works well, and normally
you should done a fossil installation.

If you provide more info about your installation for sure we can help you to
get it running.

This was simply an admittedly stupid, off-the-handle question.

Hi,

> where you download your CD image?

> are you speaking about the vesa one provided in 9grid.de?

Yes, it is the vesa image, sadly, the standard would not work with my nvidia
GeForce4 and I couldn't find any info on the archives or the net of any one
being able to make it work with plan 9 or modify an entry in the vgadb to
make it work. All I got was a black screen.

What kind of installation you done? (kfs or fossil or fossil+venti)

fossil, during instalation I was given [fossil, fossil+venti] with fossil as
default, there was no kfs option, I understand it is an old format of
filesystem, but I did notice both, the demo system and the install system on
the CD used kfs when starting.

Do you see any error during install process?

no errors, all steps went fine, the only step that would fail was the last
one, the boot setup process, since it offered floppy or plan9, I could not
select the later since I have a dual booting system, the floppy failed
trying to find the floppy need files on sdD1, which I don't have, it didn't
give me any choise to change the path to sdC1 which is my CD drive, that's
is what I had been doing to get there, changing the path from sdD1 to sdC1
every time it happened. So I gave it a ctrl-d and next came finish. I
thought I would later be able to find and edit if needed the plan9.ini using
the demo system on the CD and with some advice so I did. There was a
plan9.ini on 9fat but it was empty.

Where is the advice of the plan9.ini file edition ?

thread -> Re: [9fans] accesing a local fossil

Normally plan9.ini is generated automatically and works well, and normally
you should done a fossil installation.

as I said, I did, there were no error on install, but later. I found the
plan9.ini was empy (perhaps it would have been filled in the bootsetup step
of the instalation that I could not perform?)

Ok,

Now I can understand more :=)

First of all, the kernel you are using 9pcdisk is the one used to boot from
the kfs image of the CD.

You should use the 9pcf kernel to boot a fossil terminal.

If you want vesa, look in the CD you downloaded for the correct kernel and
put it in 9fat.
I can't remeber where are those kernels in the 9grid.de
<http://9grid.de>vesa right now, but a quick search in archives will
give you the answer i
think.

So, change your kernel to 9pcf and try booting again.
