imho the idea with mk is that it should be possible to send somebody 
mkfiles (and source etc) that will work on their system. generally 
speaking it is unlikely that ''they'' are all running the same shell, or 
even one that is compatible with the SHELL in your environment.
therefore it is probably a good idea that mk uses one and the same shell 
everywhere. in my opinion that shell should be rc.
