It certainly was done in the past. There were commercial and
posted-to-usenet versions of such things, search the comp.sources.*
and net.sources.* archives.
Such things would date from the mid-80s; if you find something, you'd
probably have to do some work to bring it up on a modern system,
but I doubt it'd be terrible.
