that functionality doesn't disappear, does it?  where ever it goes,
the bugs will follow.

if the argument is that it's easier to debug if it's not in the kernel,
i think that argument requires some proof.

we used to call these people research fellows at corporate
labs.  sadly, their astroid has landed.
